Phosphate solubilizing microbes (PSMs) are a group of beneficial microorganisms capable of hydrolyzing organic and inorganic insoluble phosphorus compounds to soluble P form that can easily be assimilated by plants.
What is phosphate mobilization?
Phosphorus mobilization by soil microorganisms
These processes include the excretion of hydrogen ions, the release of organic acids, the production of siderophores and the production of phosphatase enzymes that are able to hydrolyse soil organic P (Figure 1).
Which is phosphate Solubilizer?
Many different strains of these bacteria have been identified as PSB, including Pantoea agglomerans (P5), Microbacterium laevaniformans (P7) and Pseudomonas putida (P13) strains are highly efficient insoluble phosphate solubilizers.
