Introduction to Scatter Diagrams. A scatter diagram is used to show the relationship between two kinds of data. It could be the relationship between a cause and an effect, between one cause and another, or even between one cause and two others.
When to used scatter diagram?
A scatter chart works best when comparing large numbers of data points without regard to time. This is a very powerful type of chart and good when your are trying to show the relationship between two variables (x and y axis), for example a person's weight and height. A good example of this can be seen below.
What is a scatter diagram and its uses?
The scatter diagram graphs pairs of numerical data, with one variable on each axis, to look for a relationship between them. If the variables are correlated, the points will fall along a line or curve. The better the correlation, the tighter the points will hug the line.
