Gramps is a free and open source genealogy software. Gramps is programmed in Python using PyGObject. It uses Graphviz to create relationship graphs.
How do you use the Gramps family tree?
In the pop up family tree (manager) window click on the New button (on the right). Now under the title Family tree name (to the left) enter a name for your tree and then click on the Load Family Tree button (bottom right). Gramps will now open with your newly created tree.
Where does Gramps store data?
These logging files are kept in a DB Environment directory. We need a separate directory for each file, otherwise the log files can interfere with each other. In 2.2, we keep the log files under the ~/. gramps/ directory, creating a unique directory for each database.
