If you want to text someone that is not connected to the internet, an iMessage will send but not deliver until the recipient turns on their connection. By forcing your phone to send as a text message, the recipient will be able to receive the message as long as they have a mobile network connection.

Will a text say sent as text message if blocked?

If the iMessage never shows a “Delivered” or “Read” message, and it's still blue, then you may have been blocked – but not always. ... Remember, when messages are being sent as green instead of blue, that means the phone is attempting to send a traditional SMS text message instead of an iMessage.

What does it mean when a text is green and says sent as text message?

A green background means that the message you sent or received was delivered by SMS through your cellular provider. It also typically went to a non-iOS device such as an Android or Windows phone.
