Can Strawflowers Be Dried?

Can Strawflowers Be Dried?

They're a very easy, and popular, flower to dry. However, since strawflower stems are so delicate, you'll need to replace the stems with wire before drying the flowers if you plan to use them in an arrangement.

How do you dry Strawflowers?

Hang the rubber band clusters upside down in a cool, dry and shaded or dark place that receives good air circulation. Your straw flowers should be dried and ready to use in two to three weeks. Cut the selected straw flower so 10 to 12 inches of stem remain on each flower head.

How do you preserve Helichrysum?

Tie the stems into small bunches with rubber bands. Hang the loose bunches upside down in a warm, dry, well-ventilated place, such as an attic or shed. (Harvested flowers are usually hung to dry so that the stems dry straight.) Dry the plant material until it is thoroughly dry, usually 2 to 3 weeks.
