Where Do Squids Live?

Squid Habitat
Squid are found in oceans all around the world. Not all species live in all parts of the world. Some squid prefer warmer, tropical waters while others thrive in the cold seas where krill and other food can be found, but as a species they can be found almost everywhere.

Where do common squid live?

From what scientists have surmised, giant squids live in the deep sea, close to slopes in the sea floor. They are most frequently found near continental shelf slopes, and islands slopes. Because so little is known about these squids, they may very well frequent other deep-sea habitats as well.

Where do squids live in the sea?

Generally speaking, squid can be found swimming in shallow coastal waters but also in the deep and dark depths of the abyss. An average depth of the squid's habitat is around 1.000 feet below the sea surface.
