In 1847 Bracknell consisted of a long narrow street, inhabited principally by small shop keepers. It was not until the railway station opened in 1856 that Bracknell began to develop into a country town, and in 1870 a weekly cattle and poultry market started.

When was Bracknell formed?

Bracknell was made a civil parish in its own right in 1955. Under the Local Government Act 1972, the entire Easthampstead Rural District became the Bracknell District on 1 April 1974.

When was Great Hollands Bracknell built?

Building of the estate began around 1967 as the town continued to expand. The estate lies approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south-west of the town centre, to the west of the A3095 road. Great Hollands is in two wards, Great Hollands North and Great Hollands South.
