Macbeth was not a good king because his primary interest was his own power, and he was so preoccupied with this power that he paid no attention to the conspiracy mounting against him. It was for these reasons that he was so quickly and easily killed.
Why would Macbeth make a good king?
He shows us the qualities of being an ideal king. Duncan's qualities make him a noble and righteous king. He is judicious, honest and trusting of his subjects. He gains respect from his minions (his subjects and servants), which further creates a sense of peace and tranquillity in the land.
