Where Is Loch Long?

Loch Long is a body of water in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The Sea Loch extends from the Firth of Clyde at its southwestern end. It measures approximately 20 miles (32 km) in length, with a width of between 1 and 2 miles (1.6 and 3.2 km). The loch also has an arm, Loch Goil, on its western side.

Can you swim in Loch Long?

Yes you can, about 10ft or so out it shelves to around 300ft depth. It is tidal so you have to consider this when swimming. It has an excellent reef to snorkel and is fantastic for diving.

What animals live in Loch Long?

An array of wildlife has made its home in or around Loch Long, including gannets, eider ducks, cormorants, oyster catchers, grey seals, occasional pilot whales, porpoises and dolphins and sometimes even a humpback whale. On land, you might spot a golden eagle high above you or the more common buzzard.
