Monkeys have tails but chimpanzees and other great apes do not.

Does chimpanzee has a tail?

Myth: Chimpanzees are monkeys.

Most primates fall into two categories: great apes and monkeys. ... Chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, and gibbons all do not have tails – making them apes! Monkeys not only have tails, but are usually smaller in size compared to apes.

Why do chimpanzees have no tails?

Why don't apes have tails? Simply put because we (apes) don't move exactly like other arboreal monkeys (old world monkeys or new world monkeys). Even though the majority of apes are arboreal, "we" developed our own form of locomotion which did not rely so much on tails and so they were lost.
