Why Future Is Not a Tense?

Why Future Is Not a Tense?

There are many ways of expressing the future, but there is no inflected form of the verb to express futurity. We have to use present tense forms (the context tells us whether they refer to the future), modals, such as will, may, etc, or other ways such as I am going to, want to, hope to, etc.

Is future a tense or time?

One of the most common ways to talk about the future is with will, for example: I will call you tonight. We often call this the "future simple tense", but technically there are no future tenses in English.

Why future is a tense?

The future tense is as important/useful as the other tenses in daily communication. It is used to connote some action that we or others will follow in the time to come (whether short-term or long-term) or some event or action that will take place in the time to follow.
