Bottom shuffling is often seen in babies who have not spent time playing on their tummy. Most babies who bottom shuffle are later walkers (typically walking from 18-24 months of age). Initially, they will often lift their legs up when you attempt to support them in standing.
Do bum scooters walk later?
Bum scooting and delayed walking
Many babies do not walk until they are 12 months of age, but for bum scooters walking might not happen until they are 18-24 months old.
Why do babies bum shuffle instead of crawl?
Why do some babies bottom shuffle? Babies who bottom shuffle typically have not tolerated being placed on their tummy and therefore do not develop the strength in their arms, neck and back muscles to enable them to push themselves up, move around on their tummy or crawl.
