Ruby-crowned Kinglets breed across far northern North America as well as the western mountains. Most migrate to the southern and southwestern United States and Mexico for the winter—but some mountain populations in the West simply move to lower elevations during the cold months.

Winters in a wide variety of habitats, mainly in open deciduous woods, also in coniferous and mixed woods, mesquite brush, streamside thickets.

What do Kinglets live?

The ruby-crowned kinglet is about 4 inches in length. It is olive-green in color with white and black bars on its wings. The male has a red crown. It lives in coniferous forests in the summer and deciduous forests in the winter.
