Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple has no plans to ditch the Lightning port on the iPhone in “the foreseeable future” and could move straight to a portless iPhone that relies exclusively on its MagSafe wireless charging standard instead.

But while Apple is testing a port-less design, it isn't expected to be released to the public this year. Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that the iPhone 13 will continue to use a Lightning port on all models.

USB-C support

No portless iPhone and no iPhone 13 with a USB-C connection. Although the MacBooks, iPad Pro, and iPad Air feature a USB-C port, Apple is likely to stick around with Lightning for another year, as Ming-Chi Kuo reported.
