While you take the exam, the proctoring software monitors your computer, including any software that is running, and streams the exam data to the proctoring software via the cloud. The software also records video and audio from your webcam.

Does Proctorio always record audio?

Proctorio only records during an exam and if the video/audio/screen recording settings are enabled by the exam administrator. Recording starts right as you enter the exam, after the diagnostics pre-check and exam agreement have been completed.

Does proctoring record you?

Proctorio will record the students' identity via webcam and, depending upon the exam settings controlled by individual instructors, record your exam attempt in various ways. A multitude of privacy provisions have been established to ensure student privacy and FERPA compliance. Proctorio has no file access of any kind.
