The common eider (pronounced /ˈaɪ. dər/) (Somateria mollissima), also called St. Cuthbert's duck or Cuddy's duck, is a large (50–71 cm (20–28 in) in body length) sea-duck that is distributed over the northern coasts of Europe, North America and eastern Siberia.

The oldest recorded Common Eider was a male at least 22 years, 7 months old when he was found in eastern Canada.
What does an eider look like?
The male eider is a black-and-white duck, with a pale green patch at the back of the head, pinkish breast and pale yellow-grey bill. The female is greyish-brown with delicate barring.
