Tree Ferns benefit from an occasional feed. The best product for this is the specialist Tree Fern Fertiliser available from Paramount Plants. Otherwise, you can use any liquid plant feed/ fertiliser.
What do you feed a tree fern?
Fertilize tree ferns for the first time one year after planting. It's okay to apply a slow-release fertilizer to the soil around the trunk, but the fern responds best to a direct application of liquid fertilizer. Spray both the trunk and the soil monthly, but avoid spraying the fronds with fertilizer.
When should I feed my tree fern?
Watering and feeding
After the first year of planting, apply a liquid feed (diluted as directed by the manufacturer) to the fronds and trunk once a month, from mid-spring to mid-summer, when the plant is in growth.
