How Does a Perfecting Press Work?

A Perfecting Press is an offset printing press that applies ink to both sides of a sheet of paper during a single pass through the press. All web presses (roll-fed presses) are perfecting presses, because the paper only flows through the press once.

How does the print press work?

In Gutenberg's printing press, movable type was arranged over a flat wooden plate called the lower platen. Ink was applied to the type, and a sheet of paper was laid on top. An upper platen was brought down to meet the lower platen. The two plates pressed the paper and type together, creating sharp images on the paper.

What is straight printing?

Straight Printing is a term used when printing one side of a sheet per pass. Multiple passes can be made on each side until the desired ink colors are printed on the sheet.
