Why Are Acls So Weak?

Why Are Acls So Weak?

This vulnerability is due to the anatomy of the hips and knees and a lack of muscle support structures to protect the ACL from experiencing high levels of strain during jumping, landing or cutting movements.

Why do ACLS not heal?

The ACL cannot heal on its own because there is no blood supply to this ligament. Surgery is usually required for athletes because the ACL is needed in order to safely perform the sharp movements that are required in sports.

Why do ACLS tear so often?

This can happen when someone makes a slightly awkward movement while planting his foot. The ACL tears more often than any other ligament—there may be as many as 200,000 ACL injuries per year in the United States—because of the lack of muscle support for twisting or rotational movements around the joint.
