When to Plant Peppermint?

When to Plant Peppermint?

Plant mint in spring after the last frost. This fast-growing herb can grow just about anywhere and makes an excellent addition to indoor and outdoor gardens. Space mint plants 18 to 24 inches apart. It's best to grow them in pots to keep them from taking over your garden (even if you're planting in the ground).

Is peppermint hard to grow?

In the garden it's prolific, attracts pollinators, and is easy to grow. If there was ever a plant that could make the blackest thumb turn green, it's mint. Give it enough water and it will happily do its thing. In USDA Hardiness Zones 3-8, it will continue to grow – and spread – year after year.

Does peppermint come back year after year?

They die back completely each year when it gets cold enough. In the spring, before the new shoots start sprouting, I cut back to the ground all the dead stems to make it far easier when cutting.
