Is rubella vaccination painful?

This vaccine is very safe and effective. There may be some redness, swelling, or pain at the place where the needle went into the arm or leg. Your doctor can tell you how to control the pain. Between 6 to 23 days after the vaccine, some people will have a mild fever and sometimes a mild rash lasting 1-3 days.

Where is the rubella shot given?

The dosage for MMR vaccine is 0.5 mL by the subcutaneous route. If a second dose is indicated, the minimum interval between the first and second doses should be separated by at least 4 weeks (28 days). The preferred injection site for adults is the posterior triceps aspect of the upper arm.
