Where will Brood X emerge in 2021?

Where will the cicadas emerge in 2021? If you live in the D.C. area, lucky you! You're in the middle of cicada-Palooza, which has huge concentrations of Brood X cicadas. People in other affected cities, such as Cincinnati and Philadelphia, will experience the insects as well, but New Yorkers may not.

What month do Brood X cicadas come out?

Periodical cicadas usually start to emerge in early- to mid-May when the soil temperature reaches 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius). In 2017, a few cicadas emerged as early as April 26, but large appearances began on May 16.
