The show is split into different rounds; the first sees the four starting teams given a subject then the two members take it in turns to give an answer. Another round sees eight possible answers to a set question displayed on the screen. The teams must find the one pointless answer and avoid the one wrong one.

Applications are now open for the next series of the hit BBC gameshow. Hit BBC primetime gameshow Pointless is set to return to filming later this year and applications for contestants to appear on the new series is now open.

How does the show Pointless work?

Contestants try to score as few points as possible by giving obscure answers to general knowledge questions. If no one else from a panel of 100 anonymous participants have thought of the same answer, the contestant will get zero points. The team with the fewest points at the end of the episode wins the jackpot.
