The kabeljou, commonly known as kob, is the Argyrosomus Hololepidotus. Your local kob is the silver kob, which is the Argyrosomus Inodorus. It is found almost all around South Africa and Australia, and often looked upon as a South African natural fish – although the galjoen has that honour.

Where do you catch kabeljou?
Kabeljou is mainly caught by shore angling over sandy areas, in estuaries or out at sea. They will sometimes be taken in exceedingly shallow water just behind the shore break, where they feed on their prey.
