Tired of constant touring and wishing to explore other musical avenues, Lunny left Planxty at the start of September 1973, playing his last gig with the band at the Edinburgh Festival. He would eventually end up a member of The Bothy Band.

The band split in 1975, reconvening in 1978, and sundering again in 1982 (Christy and Donal had both left to form Moving Hearts), but now it is time for what the band have wryly christened Planxty's "third coming".
