To be quite honest, it doesn't really matter what order your read these two books in—Obsidian before Shadows, or Shadows before Obsidian… they're both beautifully written and captivating, and you should read them both.

Should I read Obsidian or shadows first?

K, first off, very important but this book should be read AFTER Obsidian. I repeat, READ OBSIDIAN FIRST !!!!! Even though its the prequel, trust me, everything will make a lot more sense if you read it after.

In what order should I read Jennifer Armentrout books?

The reading order is as follows: Shadows (prequel, novella), Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin, and Opposition. Please see the individual books for release date information. The Darkest Star is the spin off of the Lux Series, following Luc, who was introduced in Opal.
