The urine travels from the kidneys to the bladder in two thin tubes called ureters. The ureters are about 8 to 10 inches long. Muscles in the ureter walls tighten and relax to force urine down and away from the kidneys.
Do humans have ureters?
Ureters are the tubes that transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder. There are two ureters in the human body, one connected to each kidney. Ureteral tubes are made of smooth muscle that contracts to push urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Ureters can get blocked and infected.
Do we have 2 ureters?
Most of us are born with 2 ureters, the tube that drains the urine from each kidney into the bladder. But some babies are born with 2 ureters that drain a single kidney.
