How do I prune Solanum?
Every spring - and I mean EVERY spring, pruning of your Solanum plant should be carried out by pruning back the side growths (those that grew and flowered the last year) to about 6in 150mm from the main stem.
Do you cut back Solanum?
Solanum potato vine can take heavy pruning without any issues. Hard pruning will actually lead it to produce more flowers. When pruning, watch for dead wood, broken branches or weak ones and remove them. Never prune in fall because this would weaken your potato vine just before winter.
