Dial indicators are one of the primary measuring tools used in precision engine building. They are typically used to measure deck clearances, crankshaft thrust and straightness, lifter travel and other measurements that involve the distance between two surfaces or small amounts of component travel.
Where do we use dial indicator?
Dial gauges are used for checking flatness of surfaces; parallelism of bar and rods; and detecting small differences if any in linear measurement of identical objects. A dial gauge is also used for measuring concentricity of round objects. These are available in inches as well as in millimetre.
What is dial indicator and where it is used?
Dial indicators are used to align a workpiece in a machine. Such as, in the case of EDM, grinding machine, lathe machine, and milling machine. The tools are also used to check out the runout of the spindle in a machine tool. Workpieces can be aligned in the spin fixture by the help of Dial Indicators.
