The Corpse Flower or Titan Arum is native to the rainforests of western Sumatra, Indonesia where it grows on limestone hills at low elevations, in forest openings where there is enough light and space to produce its massive leaf and inflorescence or flower-bearing structure.

Native to the rainforests of Western Sumatra, Indonesia, the corpse flower is listed as “endangered” on the International Union for Conservations of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Plants. There are fewer than 1,000 individuals thought to be left in the wild according to the United States Botanic Garden.

The corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum) or 'titan arum' is the tallest flower in India, and largest by diameter, though not a native species. It blooms once in nine years and while it is in bloom, the flower emits a strong odour similar to rotting meat or, aptly, a decaying corpse.
