Should You Do Ferber Method for Naps?

If you put babies to bed when they're already sleeping, they won't recognize their surroundings upon waking, making it harder to self-soothe. Make sure to implement the Ferber method for naps, too. Most naps should happen in the crib, which helps create a consistent sleep routine.

How long does Ferber take for naps?

Visits should be about 1-2 minutes long. The purpose is to reassure your child, but NOT to stop the crying or help your child fall asleep. You'll wait for increasingly longer intervals before each visit.

How long do you let babies cry it out for naps?

Let your baby cry for a full five minutes. Next, go back into the room, give your baby a gentle pat, an “I love you” and “good night”, and exit again. Repeat this process for as long as your child cries, making sure to extend the time you leave your baby alone by 5 more minutes each time until your baby falls asleep.
