The male urethra connects the urinary bladder to the penis. Once the bladder becomes full, urine flows through the urethra and leaves the body at the urethral meatus, which is located at tip of the penis. The urethra is more than just a urinary duct; it also serves as a conduit for semen and sperm during sexual acts.
Where can urethra be found?
The urethra is a thin, fibromuscular tube that begins at the lower opening of the bladder and extends through the pelvic and urogenital diaphragms to the outside of the body, called the external urethral orifice. The urethra also connects the to the ductus deferens in males, for the ejaculation of sperm.
Where is the urethra located and what is its function?
The urethra is a hollow tube positioned between the urinary bladder and urinary meatus which takes urine stored in the bladder out of the body. Urethra length differs in human females and males. In males, the urethra allows for the expulsion of both urine and semen.
